New convenient laundry room

Hi all,

I have been MIA since Sept. I do however have good reason because we have been busy remodeling this 1973 house, yep, summer is over so the boat went into storage and now its back to making this house a home.  We have a huge family room and a corner that was useless. So dh decided that since it backed up to a bathroom we could utilize the space and move the laundry room, this pleases me because most my guests use my garage as an entrance , that brought you smack dab into the laundry room (not attractive). So not only do I gain a mudroom, but I get to have my laundry in the hall near all the bedrooms and baths now how smart is that!!   Dh cut out two large holes, boxed it in.  This also looks attractive from the living room side cause it took the bare corner away!  Take a look at the pics- hope you like the idea and it gives some of you with the same dilemma some thoughts of your own.

the gut out begins (goodbye useless corner)

Here she is all done!!  I love it!!

Thank you for taking the time to take a peek-- way more to come - a new mudroom, all baths and new kitchen!!

Can I part with my goods!

Hi all,

It has been awhile since I blogged. But I have still been taking time here and there to stalk all yours. SO....today I am starting to make my ETSY store.

It may not start up today because all I have read said to open your store with at least 50 items, but in the middle of taking pictures I started to have a mini panic attack.  I don't know about you, but I started collecting and loving older vintage items as long as I can remember.

I am starting my store with my vintage beaded purses. Some I have had since my Sister in Law Mary, gave me one of hers when I was maybe nine.  In the middle of taking pictures, I started freaking out in my head, the what if's. ( what if my son's future wife needs a something old, for her wedding day and I am selling the most beautiful wedding purse ever.) So I walk into my son's room and say "do you think I should save this for your future wife?"  he looks at me like I have lost my mind. which at the moment I have.. then the mind questions start again- what if my granddaughter wants to start a beaded purse collection?  So here I am asking you out there, is this crazy? Is it hard for you to part with items you have had for many years??

I will part with these items!!!  I made a promise to myself, unless it was a gift or something that truly has sentimental value I must put it in my store for someone else to enjoy.  I am looking forward to your thoughts on my thoughts!!

geez, suddenly I could use a nice glass of wine.

need advice please!!

Hello all-

Today I stopped at a garage sale (surprise surprise) and I found this lovely antique enamel dish- I think it will be lovely to hold glass jars with soap ect. for the new laundry room we are in the midst of building now..

My question is ... I have found these animals- I have a poodle, a penguin, a elephant ect.... the only marking on these is made in hong kong- they are plastic made to look like wood, they have rhinestone eyes and usually a gold chain around there necks.. does anyone have any idea what year they are from or what they were used for maybe a carnival prize????   I have googled asked in antique stores - nobody has a clue- do you... I would be interested in what I may find out Thank You!!!!

Once upon a marina's dream

This is a short story for all my blogging friends!!

Once upon a time there was this adorable little restaurant right off of Lake St. Clair in Michigan. It sits in a lovely little city named Algonac.  We love to go to it by boat and after lunch we soak in all the sun, little shops and I always take a peek in the boat salvage yard.  Enjoy your pics of some sweet Michigan summer.

Garage and Barn sale finds

Hello All, I hope your weekend is going wonderful so far. As for me,  it couldn't get better- I have been doing all the things I love- I started my Friday by picking up my little love, my granddaughter  (20 months) and took her to her first of many garage sales... she is a natural like her grammy!!  I would like to share with you some of my finds today- lets just say I will have a very busy fall ahead of me with projects galore ahead of me!!
This darling table- can't wait to get some chalk paint on it- I ordered the paint from Fox Hollow Cottage and I cannot wait to paint my heart out!

Couldn't resist these chandeliers - I think I will remove the guts and put candles in them- paint will transform these beautifully!

Future blog on taking a ugly garage sale lamp and turning it into a beauty!

Yep another fun lantern for the patio!
I also found a old toy box in the barn sale filled with all kinds of mid century toys-- Etsy buyers will be happy!!

Before I sell this beauty I will clean her up and have my dh take photos of her in a mid century dress I bought her- he is after all, a professional photographer- magerphotography  is the name of his business- he also has a full mat and frame shop in our basement.
The boys were thrilled with the fishing gear I found- in the back of that old barn!
Oh, I just love old boxes!
Haven't decided what I will do with this old wine barrel!
I have seen many magazines setting out old suitcases, as decorations.
How lucky I went to my first canning class on Saturday morning.  I was delighted to find this 50's funnel set-- still unused in the box.
At .10 a piece I think these will be great for a future art project.
More fun finds... I just seen in Better homes and gardens Kitchens and Baths... the old folding rulers are shaped like a easel to hold a picture.
a jar of antique fishing lures!
Cute little blue birds made in Japan.
little milk cows- made in Japan.
 More mid century finds.
 don't look in her eyes--spooky!

 old Christmas ornament.

Old jelly jar made in Japan!
 old glasses holder!
 Brass fly ashtray!

Paper mache Jesus made in Mexico

Thank you for checking out my fun finds... in the future you will find many fun items for sale in my etsy store-- that is that will be a great day!!
